September, the breaking of Winter into the crisp clean Spring! What a perfect weekend it was!
This trip we had 5 vehicles heading into areas not too far from home, but are little secret gems.
The club met in Gloucester on the Saturday morning and after visiting the bakery, we headed up Thunderbolts way to our first destination. Hitting the top of the mountain range we headed west, down a long steep trail, to Jacky Barkers Hut. While eating our Bakery snacks for morning tea, we explored the grounds and learnt about the history of the area through a booklet in the hut.
We then headed back up the mountain and headed north for a trip around Nowendoc Forest and lunch.
After lunch we headed back south to what was going to be the fun part of the trip and our camp for the night, at the bottom of Obergs trail. Well, this was a long twist & turn tight trail, where everyone got pin stripes but didn’t mind once seeing our camp area for the first time. What a GEM. Plenty of space to pick a camp spot, the sound of the river running, deep swimming holes (maybe for a warmer time).
With everyone set up, we spent the night around the camp fire enjoying a perfect evening. The next morning was the climb out and when reaching the top, a wild pig was waiting and watched all the vehicles emerge from the trail, before bolting. From there we all went home.
All who went said they would go back there again!
